DOCUMENTATION 

Cargo was first accompanied by word-of-mouth instruction. Then paperwork. Just as the mode of transport evolved, so has the method of transporting the necessary documents or messages of instructions for a successful movement. Hand carried payment and paper have been replaced with teletype, telephone, facsimile, letters of credit, bank wire transfer and e-mail.
